Setting up with Moodle

 

Before You Start

These directions are to add Revision Assistant to Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). You must sign-in to your Moodle account each time before adding and/or using Revision Assistant.

Your Moodle System Admin can install Revision Assistant as an External Tool/App at the course or the district level. However, if your system admin does not plan to configure the External Tool at the system level, the Course Admin (or instructor) will need to install the LTI Integration at the course level. You will have to add Revision Assistant as an External Tool before using Revision Assistant in your course. This means that you will have to add Revision Assistant as an External Learning Tool from the Course Admin page before you can make and assign prompts. You can add Revision Assistant as an App by following the directions below.​​

If you're not familiar with adding External Tool Providers in an LMS, then follow the rest of the steps on this page to get yourself set up. If you’ve done this before, then all the important stuff is listed below:

 

Setting Up Revision Assistant as an External Learning Tool in Moodle

For an Admin Account

  1. From the dashboard, select the course to which you want to add Revision Assistant.
  2. Click Turn Editing On in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Then, nn the top of the page, click Add an Activity. Depending on your settings this could look two ways. Follow the steps below depending on what you're seeing on your screen:
    1. Activity Chooser View OFF
      1. Click Add an Activity or Resource.
      2. Select External tool from the menu.
      3. Click Add.
    2. Activity Chooser View ON
      1. Click Add an activity.
      2. Select External Tool from the drop-down menu.
  4. Both ways listed above bring you to the Adding a new External tool page. Fill out the necessary information:
  5. Click Save and return to course. Revision Assistant has now able to be added to your course as an assignment.

 

For an Instructor Account

If your Moodle administrator has already configured Revision Assistant, follow the directions listed below. If you are an instructor with admin/course creator/manager rights, please follow the For Admin Account instructions above.

  1. From the dashboard, select the course you wish to add: Revision Assistant.
  2. Click Turn Editing On in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Select the work week you wish to add Revision Assistant.
  4. Then, click Add an Activity or Resource. Depending on your settings this could look two ways. Follow the steps below depending on what you're seeing on your screen:
    1. Activity Chooser View OFF
      1. Click Add an activity or resource.
      2. Select External tool from the menu.
      3. Click Add.
    2. Activity Chooser View ON
      1. Click Add an activity.
      2. Select External Tool from the drop-down menu.
  5. Both ways listed above bring you to the Adding a new External tool page. Name the activity (you can always come back and change it later).
  6. Select Revision Assistant from the drop-down menu.
  7. Save and return to course.
  8. Congratulations! You now are able to launch Revision Assistant from your course. Revision Assistant will launch in a new window in your browser.
