Step 2 - Creating a dummy assignment

A Moodle environment will only support one integration and account/sub-account. If you need to configure multiple Turnitin sub-accounts, you will have to create a Moodle environment for each one.

Once you've created your registration, you need to create a dummy assignment to initialize it with your Turnitin account.

  1. Navigate to the course you would like to add Turnitin to.
  2. Turn editing on, and select the Add an activity or Resource link.
  3. Select External Tool from the Modal Box.
  4. Give the assignment a name and choose the registration you just created from the Preconfigured Tool dropdown.
  5. Enter the email address and password used for the Turnitin account you used to create the registration. We need this to initially authenticate the registration as genuine.

  6. Select the relevant account for this registration using the radio buttons. Use the Next button to continue.

  7. Review the content on the confirmation screen. If everything looks correct, select the Confirm and Complete button to finish your setup.

  8. Close the Select Content modal box.
  9. Skip the other options and select the Save and Display button. If successful, the LTI assignment will load
  10. You're all done! The dummy assignment can be deleted now your registration has been initialized.
