Creating an assignment with Turnitin

The administrator of your LMS must configure the Turnitin LTI integration before Turnitin assignments can be created. If you are also an administrator, visit our guide on configuring Turnitin in ManageBac.

Once your administrator has configured the LTI integration in both Turnitin and ManageBac, you may create a new Turnitin Assignment using the Turnitin External Tool. Follow the steps below to create an assignment.

Creating an assignment by class

  1. Log into ManageBac as an instructor.

  2. Select or create the class in which you would like to create an assignment.

  3. Select Add New Task from the menu on the right-hand side of the Tasks & Units tab.

  4. Enter your assignment details which must include:

    1. A title

    2. Due date and time

    3. Category

    4. Turnitin Feedback Studio checkbox selected

  5. Select Create Task and Add Resources when you are ready to continue.

  6. Now that your task is created, you can further customize your Turnitin settings by selecting Feedback Studio on the right side menu followed by Settings.

Creating an assignment by year group

  1. Navigate to the calendar tab for the year group you'd like to add Turnitin to.
  2. From the dropdown found in the sidebar, select Add New Deadline.

    Creating a new deadline must be done by the ManageBac administrator.

  3. Create your assignment as you usually would and set a due date deadline in the calendar.
  4. Select the Enable Turnitin checkbox.
  5. When you've finished creating the assignment, select the Add Deadline button.
