Setting up a blueprint course

Blueprint courses are not currently supported by LTI.

Blueprint Courses allow administrators to update and maintain course templates across any number of courses or instructors. Associating a course with a blueprint course will mirror its contents, including all settings associated with them - this includes Canvas Plagiarism Framework settings. Blueprint courses give administrators the opportunity to create content whilst being able to lock specific settings or content; they can then push updates to all associated courses through course syncing. Any items that are not locked by an administrator can be managed by an instructor and are not overwritten when blueprint course updates are released by an administrator.

To set up a blueprint course, you must ensure that the course is not associated with another blueprint course, and that no students are enrolled in the course. If this criteria is not met, the blueprint option will be unavailable under course settings.

  1. Select Courses from the side of any page.
  2. Select the course that you'd like to switch to a blueprint course.

If you need to create a course, visit guidance for creating a course, then move to Turnitin guidance on creating a Canvas Plagiarism Framework assignment.

  3. Select Settings from the left-hand course menu.
  4. Select the Enable course as a blueprint course checkbox.

You can find out more about General Locked Objects and Locked Objects by Type here.

  5. Create as many Canvas Plagiarism Framework assignments as you wish. You can find out how to do this here.
