Moodle LTI vs. Direct V2 vs. Plagiarism Plugin

Turnitin has different integrations with Moodle that allow instructors to choose which workflow and tools work best to fulfill the needs and objectives of their assignment. If you are a Feedback Studio customer, all of these integrations are designed to work alongside each other and therefore can be set up in the same Moodle environment if needed. In addition, instructors can use these integrations in their course at the same time, using the LTI workflow for one assignment for example but the Plagiarism Plugin workflow for another.

The Plagiarism Plugin is designed to fit within the Moodle Assignment, Moodle Forum, Moodle Quizzes, and Moodle Workshop workflow while Moodle V2 and LTI are designed for use outside of this workflow. Below is a chart to compare the integrations and their functions.

Please note that with the move to LTI 1.3 as the industry standard, the LTI 1.3 integration is recommended over the LTI 1.1 and the Moodle V2 integrations. If you are using either one of these integrations, you may want to consider moving to LTI 1.3. Please check out our Migration Hub for recommendations.
